                                                             Marriage

The basic tenants of Christianity are that Jesus was born of a woman, was the Son of God, died on a cross on Calvary and was buried, was raised back to life after 3 days and went to Heaven and is coming back to take those who believe Him,  back to Heaven with Him to live eternally there and the Bible is Gods word.

Whether a person is “liberal” or “conservative” on those issues, those are still what make Christianity, Christianity.

Christianity is different from all other forms of religion in that it is the only one whose founder was killed, buried, came back to life and a book was put together stating those facts.

It does not matter what “version” or “translation” of the Bible one uses nor if we can read Greek or Hebrew.

Those basic facts about Christianity remain whether they are viewed from radical academia or from the view that the King James version is the “inerrant word of God.”

As strange as THIS statement will sound it is true- a person can believe in “God” and not believe in Christianity.

There are many people today who address themselves as “Christians.” Those who do call themselves Christians believe the first paragraph I wrote, to some degree or another.

Criminals (in or out of prison), liars, income tax cheaters, those who cheat on their spouse, drinkers, smokers, mean people, the list goes on and on and it also includes homosexuality, call themselves Christians.

Many denominations today are struggling with the issue of homosexuality.

I heard a well known doctor say the other day that God, by allowing the dissemination of the genetic code allowed for the possibility and therefore made homosexuality.

My issue here is not who is right or wrong on those issues but about those who call themselves Christians.

“Whosoever believes in Him shall be saved” God can sort all of that out, I won’t attempt it.

I want to address this to Christians and what the Bible says.

In particular, what the Bible says about marriage.

A person’s sexual preference has nothing to do with marriage. Bestiality included.

I am not writing to condemn or condone anyone’s sexual preference.

I have a sexual preference, I prefer women.

Marriage is my subject.

All over America today people of the same sex want to get married. At this point my line of thought goes like this; If a person calls themselves a Christian then we go to the Book, the Bible, the Book Christians call their guide, Christians call it “The Word of God”

Remember from here on, I am not talking about sexual preference; I am not condemning or condoning any preference. If a homosexual person calls themself a Christian, so be it but I am talking about marriage and what God’s word says about it.

If anyone does not believe that the Bible is Gods Word then nothing here has any bearing on their life. That person doesn’t believe in Christianity. Parenthetically, every Christian who reads the Bible understands it from their own inner being based on their relationship with God.

My thoughts are not directed to the issues confronting the clergy who are leaving their congregations because of a homosexual life style nor the clergy who are molesting children. Those are different issues.

Marriage according to Gods word is my issue.

In Genesis 1:27 God created male and female. He told them to multiply.

In Genesis 2:18 God said it wasn’t good that the man should be alone and that is when He made the women.

Then in verse24 of chapter 2 God said “therefore (for this reason) shall a man leave his father and mother and shall cleave to his wife and they shall be one flesh”

In Matthew 19:4 Jesus said that at the beginning God made man male and female and that when they leave their father and mother to be joined together in marriage they become one flesh.

And since God has has ordained that union as a union between a man and a woman, we dare not try to make it something other than that. “What God hath joined together let no man put asunder.”   God determined what marriage is and men don’t have a say in it.

The Christians Bible is the book that Christians go to for finding what God has said on an issue.

Marriage has nothing to do with sexual preference. All other types of relationships can be legalized thru various means. Marriage is called by God, a union between a man and a woman. God established it. Even when divorce happens it doesn’t change what God set forth as marriage. The definition of marriage doesn’t change anymore than when we sin, Calvary changes.

(The reality of this is that if a person does not call themselves a Christian then they can call their situation  whatever they want to because the Bible, The Word of God is not their guide.)

I will never criticize anyone for not choosing to follow the Christian belief and neither will I accept criticism for following it myself.

Anyone can go to a concordance of the Bible and look up the word “marriage” and the references to marriage are numerous and totally clear.

Anyone who says they go by the Christian belief and refuses the Bible as Gods Word doesn’t go by the Christian belief.

No Christian should attempt to justify his or her behavior by ignoring or trying to change Gods Word.

I refuse to condemn anyone to Hell or anywhere else because of their lifestyle.

If a person calls them self a Christian then go to the Book, Gods Word and “study to show thyself approved, a workman, rightly dividing the word”

Live your life intelligently, not stubbornly. Marriage is what it is and sexual preference is what it is.

It’s between the person and God, and whatever their sexual preference is, Deal with it!

None of this applies to anyone who does not believe that the Bible is Gods Word.

Christianity is unique in that it’s founder, Jesus Christ was crucified, buried and rose from the dead after 3 days just like He said He would. Believing that, as I do, then everything else He said about Himself is true.

Jesus was God, letting us look at Him.

The Bible is how we are able to look at Him.
